I have a Fleck 9100 with SXT controller that replaced a 9000 with the manual controller after the valves begain leaking. Subsequently it seemed time to replace the media in the dual tanks. They are 10x54. I belueve theres 1.5' of medium per tank. The old system used a tremendous amount of salt. Like 4 bags a month. Now I'm using 4 bags in three months but my plumbing is experiencing light staining in the toilet bowl and occasional rotten egg smell that we never use to get.

I have a Health Metric TDS meter that reports my TDS at 960ppm. That seems excessive to me and I've ordered some test strips.
The SXT is set as the following:
VT = dF1b
CT = Fl
NT = 2
TS = 2
C = 30
H = 40
RS = rc
RC = 50
DO = off
BW = 10
BD = 60
RR = 10
BF = 10
FM = PO.7

I'm assuming I need to alter the C and H to increase the softness, remove the odor and get rid of the staining.

I'm just the homeowner and have never pretended to be a plumber in real life.

Any suggestions, explanations and greater depth to my limited understanding is greatly appreciated.

I got some test strips that report my hardness is between 250 and a
425 ppm. Closer to 250, I'd say. If I want it to use a little more salt, can I just increase the hardness setting on the meter or should I increase the BD (brine dissolving) cycle time? Or both? Thanks in advance.
