DIYer here doing my first curbless shower install and looking for advice on floor prep.

1. Adjoining rooms to bathroom are 3/4” nailed hardwood.
2. Subfloor is 3/4” OSB on I-joists 24” on center.
3. I plan to lower the shower floor area by 3/4” to be even with top of joists. Shower floor will need to be a custom dry pak mud due to a triangular area. I might use a Schluter preformed pan and dry pak around it.
4. I’d like to try a linear drain with it parallel to the shower door and close to it so that water will hit the drain and not get into bath area. With about 4-5’ length and 1/4” slope per foot the pan height would be 1-1.25”.
5. Shiould I use 3/8” porcelain tile for best water resistance for shower and bath? Or a different thickness?
6. I have 1/2” Hardiebacker boards on hand and Schluter Ditra mat. What do I add on top of the bath subfloor to make the transition from bath to shower area work right? I suppose using the Ditra and Kerri is the best for underneath tile for water protection. I am not sure what to use below the Ditra layer considering the shower pan height and the adjacent hardwood flooring and not too big of a transition. I think I will use a marble threshold in the doorways as I can’t think wood/tile will be ‘clean’.

Sorry for the lengthy post… I think I covered everything I’m dealing with.

Thanks in advance!!!

After doing more research the Ditra XL would fit my 24oc joist case, but it’s not kept in the usual box stores in the 54’ roll. Looks like I’ll go with 1/4” hardibacker board and if it’s not even it will be slightly higher than a Schluter 48” pan which is 1” tall, helping to keep water on the pan side.
