Adding bathroom on floor above. Need opinion

Iwant to put a full bathroom on 2nd floor/ 1plumber told me they have too run a new stack another said they could tie in to the stack that is already there. there is one bathroom in house 1st, floor. ps he said they could bootleg it what thes that mean. thank you for any help.

You are not supposed to dump a first floors toilet and shower water into another bathrooms vent line because you can get upstairs poop entering the first floor fixtures. In some instances it may be possible to do something that doesn't meet any plumbing code (bootleg) but you won't know if it will work until you get things hooked up. Most of the time it may work. This would be something you would have to disclose when you sell the house if you left the upstairs bathroom connected.
