Greetings from the flooded northeast
When we get a LOT of rain, we get water coming in to the basement at the hole in the concrete where the well line comes in to the house - the opening is about 8 inches from the floor and enough water is seeping in so that we need to wet vac it every few hours. (Right now, I'm guessing it will keep leaking for days)
Any ideas whether there are safe ways to treat the area around that well line so water doesn't get in?
many thanks, as always

I would try to patch the opening with a hydraulic cement. Dyke is one brand name that I remember when I had basements in Michigan. We don't have them here in Florida, so I am sure there are many other brands on the market now. This stuff sets up fast and gives you the ability to patch a leak with water running in while your doing the work.

Look in your local hardware.
