Hi all,

Has anyone ever experienced a toilet that mysteriously flushes by itself??? My sister-in-law, says that her toilet will flush itself. Any comments??

Thanks

Maybe she one or more ghost voters living with her. (Nyuh, nyuh) More seriosly I have seen that if a line has a propensity to clog out near the main line it can build up a lot of water behind the clog before the pressure forces the line clear, when all of this water rushes out it can cause toilets in the house to flush. Just a thought. RW(in DeKalb)

Or it could be a leaking flapper, and every so often the toilet refills the tank.

Repairing or replacing the flapper could be needed.

Most people who say the "toilet flushed itself" mean that they are hearing the fill valve cycle periodically as water leaks out of the tank and has to be refilled.
