I have a small bathroom that needs to be wheelchair accessible and good looking. I am having trouble finding a wall mount sink that is the right size and doesn't look like a box hanging on the wall.

I have found a suitable sink, however, it is a pedestal. I know pedestal sinks mount to the wall. My question is, do they need the pedestal to be secure? I am thinking of buying the pedestal sink and leaving the pedestal off to accommodate the wheelchair.

Is this something that would work?

You DO need the pedestal and it WILL interfere with a wheelchair.

We consider a wheelchair accessible sink in a bathroom to be a wall mounted counter that allows a wheelchair to slide under. Sometimes the p-trap is held closer to the wall and the drain is picked up with two 90 degree fittings.
