My five year old Duravit Starck 3 washlet failed. I get a blinking red light and a weird little rhythm. The seat is not warm, the remote doesn't operate the washlet even after a change of batteries. All is bad. I've read reviews that suggest: 1) that these are not repairable 2) that such breakage is common and 3) that Duravit customer service is nonexistent or worse. This makes me think that I'm going to have to switch over to a Toto washlet since friends who are architects have had theirs for 16 years without any issues.
I don't think the Toto washlets will fit on the Starck 3 and I'm unwilling to give Duravit any more money so that would mean I'm going to have buy a new toilet and washlet, like the Toto AQUIA® IV. That would cost me about double the cost of a replacement Starck 3, but I don't feel confident about Duravit anymore.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
