I just re-bedded my resin tank with SST-60 .Cleaned the resin tank spotless, added water very slowly, and did a full regeneration. I don't have a fancy test kit, but my small Phenanthroline test, still indicates the presence of iron. The glass on the left, softened. (very light orange koolaid colour) Lots of little bubbles. The glass on the right is bottled water. With the same amount of Phenanthroline.
My system is an older Autotrol 255/940 valve, thoroughly cleaned, new riser tube, top and bottom baskets, no gravel. With new flapper valves. All cycles work great, including brine rinse.
My specs are as follows..
Tank 9x48
Well water...
Resin 1 cu. ft. SST-60
Hardness 23 PPG
Iron 3.0 PPM
PH 7.5
TDS 760 PPM
2 People..
I know I should upgrade to a metered valve. But why isn't this (expensive) resin removing all, if not most of the iron..
This is pristine resin, salt use,and rinse calculations will eventually come into play.
