Hello. i recently purchased a house and the there seems to be issues with the shower. i will call a plumber but hoping someone on here can figure out what the problem might be.

#1 - Black rubber pieces coming out of shower water source. They will clog up the shower head. if we take off the shower head the black pieces shoot out.

#2 - We dont have to turn on cold water in the shower. When just the hot water is on the temp is normal. If we turn the cold water on you cant even tell the hot water is on.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

See if there are flex lines, such as braided stainless steel. The stainless is just a braid over rubber, and that rubber can deteriorate. Some are worse than others.

Check the other side of the wall to see if there is an access panel to let you access the plumbing.

Reach4 is referring to flex connectors that may be on the water heater.
Is this a single handle shower or a three handle shower?
