Set toilet on extra thick wax ring and snugged it down and afterwards noticed it was not evenly spaced from the wall so gave it a small turn to even it up, probably. It more than 3/8 of an inch. Possible I messed with the seal? Don’t mind getting another ring but would like to avoid the trip/process if unnecessary. Thanks.

Possible.

If you can rotate the toilet front, even if you do replace the wax, then caulk the base of the toilet with acrylic caulk such as Polyseamseal. With some toilets, such as the Toto Unifit toilets, the caulk has structural purpose.
