Dear all,

I was wondering if there is a code or law that limit a maximum pressure for boilers used in steam power plants. Or we can design a steam boiler as large as we want! If there are such codes, please inform me.

Thank you very much.

If you're the designer and don't know the local codes... good luck to you!

ASME . NBBI are great sources to start

A high pressure boiler (steam) is 15 # or higher

I was a boiler tender and the boiler we operated at was 1,500 PSI superheated steam

So depending on the applications what volume of steam and the pressures are required

Thank you for all kind responses. I am not a boiler designer. I am trying to compute an optimal capacity of a boiler that provides a maximum performance for my available heat source. So I would like to know the limit of the pressure that I can choose.

Best regards,
