My sister had her kitchen redone with a very nice large under counter double sink installed.
The installer added an AAV as the nearest vent was about 20 feet away!
I kid you not, 20 feet on a 1.5 inch line!
I don't understand why they did not add a real vent while the walls were open, but they did not. And she does not want the new ceramic tile torn out to address it.
The drain comes out of the wall just under the extra deep portion of the sinks and there is no room for the AAV to reach the 4 inch above the trap requirement. So it juts off to the edge of the sink (about 18 inches) then turns up to meet the 4-6 inch requirement.
Is the AAV able to engage and allow air to enter the system with an 18 inch horizontal before turning up?
Thanks
