I have an irrigation system for the exterior of my home. To feed that irrigation system there is a water supply pipe that exits the house, goes through a wye with the bottom part of the wye aimed down and it is plugged with a male plug. I assume that is for some sort of drain if needed. The water than goes on through the other opening of the wye to the valve for the irrigation system and feeds all the zones. My question is: can I screw in a male end hose bib into what is now the plugged end of the wye so I can have a hose spigot on that side of the house? It is currently a dead zone for hose access.

Assuming it's city water, you can place a spigot anywhere from the house to the irrigation zones or manifold. No need to tap into something your're not sure what it is.
