Furnace Clearence

Furnace has a bifold door which is almost touching furnace when closed. How dangerous is this

If you could put in a louvered door, that would be better for combustion.

With a model number you can probably find the installation manual online, which will have the minimum clearance specs for each side of the unit. It obviously needs some clearance on the air intake side for combustion air to make it through the front panel grille openings, but that clearance requirement may be pretty small.

Combustion air is maybe your bigger concern, but the installation manual will show minimum clearances and how big an opening must be for combustion to work properly. Some allow things to be quite close, but using the minimum can still mean it's a bear to get access to all points when, not if, it ever needs servicing.
