We have very old two story house hardly any outlets
We need to demo walls to upgrade the electrical system. This what we were thinking

1) We need to demo ceiling lath and plaster. I guess, demo a few
inches next to the wall and then I can drill holes in joists.

2) Demo at base of wall to daisy chain outlets (run cables)

3) Demo out stud bay to feed cable up down

4) Method to demo: Saw 1/2 way into wall and then bust out wall
If it doesn’t make too much dust

5) Very small basement most of house not able to get under.
We need to feed cables up from basement to the second story
attic. We were hoping to be able to gut a stud bay up through the house even if they kind of offset going up

6) I guess if you need to get from point a to b and you got no over under
way to run cable then you need to demo portion of wall.

7) We were told to drill holes in joists close to wall as possible.
How about dia. Of hole or any other issues?

8) We need to have power company size their power coming to our house
400 amp we will go to their stuff in the back later for what we need power for.
What do you think about general plan?

9) notes: Any tips on how to demo? We know demo is not fun but
Any tips would help. Any tips in matching old to new wall board?
Anything dealing with the lath? Spraying it with water to
Keep dust down, also we need to call city to see what other
Upgrades detectors etc. are needed.

Any tips will really help. Please only constructive tips.
Thank you so much

A good wire man can fish through existing stud bays to install receptacles all day without any "demo".

The interior walls are the easiest. A lot of the old houses were balloon framed, making pulling wires from the basement to the attic a reasonably easy task.

The only way I would demo old lathe and plaster is if I were going to do ALL of it. Cut and patch is more trouble than it is worth.

If you are upgrading from a ??60 amp service?? to a 400 amp service, you need a lot more help! Let an electrician do this. He will not need to tear up your walls anywhere near what you are talking about. He has tools and techniques.....that is what they do.
