Failing this, is there a volume valve plug like there’s a diverter plug as mentioned above?

Delta does not make a plug for this and it is not a standard thread. To plug the hole you will need a 1/4" pipe tap and a brass plug to match. Although this has no real pressure use a thread sealant since it will be in the wall.
