Delta 1500 to 1700 sleeve too short

Hi Folks,
I'm new to this board, but have been reading the posts for a while now.

I just completed a Delta Monitor 1500 to 1700 conversion.
The conversion worked great, but there is one issue; the RP50880 sleeve is too short and does not fit securely into the cover plate.
I'm worried if I leave it like this water will get in behind my shower fixture and eventually cause me some issues.

Is there a sleeve that I can get that is longer then the RP50880?
If not, is there a different cover plate (Escutcheon) that I can get that will come out a little farther.
I don't need much length, a half inch or so.

Are you converting a "Delta Universal Valve Body"? If not then I don't see how you could make that conversion.
