I’m wanting to connect my laundry tub to a nearby main stack. The previous owner simply had a hose running to near a floor drain, however I’d rather plumb this in properly.
As you can see in the pictures, the laundry tub is right next to a 4 inch vertical drain pipe. This is the main drain in the house. Before the sink, the pipe runs horizontally on grade. Approximately 40 feet prior, a toilet, vanity, and laundry room standpipe connect to this pipe. All these fixtures are upstairs while the laundry tub is in the basement. There is then a 3 inch vent that punches out through the roof.
In terms of connecting this sink, I’ll assume I’ll need to run a separate vent as the existing one is approximately 50 feet from the laundry tub. Other than this though, can I just simply connect to the 4 inch pipe via 2 inch abs and p-trap?
I believe I remember something about it being a code violation to connect a basement fixture below a main floor fixture. This is why I’m asking.
