Hello,

New here and kind of desperate. Will most likely have to call a plumber again tomorrow.

Our basement bathroom has a toilet and floor shower drain. We have had chronic issues of water backing up. Even immediate water coming up from showers and flushing of toilets.

We have had plumbers snake the main line going through under the toilet since we assume our main stack is in the wall. Shows how much I know about what we need for basic plumbing needs!

I put root killer (Zep) in thinking the line had flow and now there is an inch of standing water (blue from crystals) in the shower basin.

I have shop vac'd many gallons of water from this show drain which was advice from a plumber I called. About 10 trips of a 4 gallon shop vac.

I am so confused and need any help if possible. I am sorry if I am leaving out important details for anyone to help.

The water in the shower drain I am assuming is from a P trap. This back up has occurred before and sometimes it has happened and gone away without any fuss.

Could this most likely be a sewer blockage? We live close to the street.

Could this be a blocked trap or something? I just wish I knew more about what was happening before we go digging into walls or floors.

Thanks in advance for this long mess.
