Any hints on how to remove Delta 17 shower handle?

11-year old Delta 17 shower faucet. Can easily remove cap, Phillips screw, and temperature control knob. Try to pull handle. It is loose on stem. I can rock it. But, handle does not pull off. I saw one video where guy used a screw driver to pry his handle away from sleeve. His handle was full of deposits. Don’t want to mar trim.

Any Hints would be appreciated!

Normally I can rock it a bit and get it to come off.
