Can't remove no name single lever shower handle - no set screw

Hello,

The shower is leaking from the handle and there's no set screw keeping the handle in. The lever adjusts the temperature and turns the shower on and off. There is a cap over a hole, but there's no screw in there. I've tried pulling but I'm fairly sure if I keep pulling I'll break the whole thing. We just moved in about a year ago, and I'm not sure when this was installed but it looks older.

Any thoughts on removing the handle? I see there's two screws on that big piece of metal that looks like a serving platter, but I haven't dug into that yet. See images below...

Looks like Moen which means there is definitely a set screw in there. It's farther in than you think. IIRC it's a 7/32 Allen key.
