1974 Kohler K-4549 Bolton Aqua Vent

Hello,
I have a family member with a 1974 Kohler K-4549 Bolton Aqua Vent toilet. The flush mechanism is running and it is not because of the flapper. I would like to replace the old mechanism with a Korky Universal Kit if possible, but given the funky design, I am not sure if this is possible. Do any of you know if the Korky kit would work? Thanks

I've never seen one but did find this diagram from a parts supplier. Looks like it should be replacable with a vertical float fill valve.
