Dear Terry,
My shower faucet has been hard to pull on for the past year, I used to use
a tremedous amount of pull just to get the water running, now it will not
pull at all, and no water comes out of course. I am a middle aged widow, is
this something that I can do, is it an expensive fix or is this call for a complete renovation
or should I call a plumber, the house is 25 years old.
Marouli.

Many 25 yo faucets become stiff to use after time.
With some models, you can replace the workings (cartridge) and it becomes like a new faucet.
You may get by with a service call, it speeds things along if the plumber knows in advance what brand it is.
If you post a picture of it here, we might be able to identify it.

If its a pull out handle, it sounds like a Moen faucet. If it is, you can call Moen (there is a 1-800 in the phone book ), and they will send you a cartridge , free of charge within 3 working days

shower hard to pull

Thanks Terry,
You were right, the plumber replaced the cartridge and all is well. He said
because it was a Moen but a copper not a plastic one, that the copper cartridge is not guaranteed. Still in all it was a relatively cheap fix. I was so worried that I need a complete new system costing my 1,000's of dollars.
Thanks again.
