I cleaned my brine well today, there was about 15 litres (4 gallons) of salt "sludge" in the bottom of the brine well.
I purchased the house less than a year ago so I have no idea when this was done last, any thoughts on how long it's been?

How often does this usually need to be done?

I usually buy one of these two products, is one better than the other?

Thanks!

I would say maybe try again after you have used 2000 pounds of salt.

Regarding the Winsor, it will have an additive or two -- primarily citric acid. If you have much iron, that could be worth the premium. Or you could buy the cheaper salt, and add your own powered citric acid.

The thing you cleaned is the brine tank. The brine well is that ~4 inch diameter pipe on the side that protects the safety float and air check valve at the bottom.
