    Vent Pipe???

Just wanted to give an update in case someone else stumbles across this: I spoke to the code officials last week here in St. Louis. They asked when my house was built and I told them in the 50's. They said that a vent pipe like this was common during that era. He explained that this pipe was...

Connecting Cast Iron to PVC w/ Mission Band

Do you have experience with the slip couplings? They make me a little nervous since they do not have anything to butt up against. I've never used one. I presume you would make your cut and slip over pipe and then line other pipe on top. After that I assume you would apply glue to outsides of...

Connecting Cast Iron to PVC w/ Mission Band

Yeah I couldn't get it to flex since it is 4" PVC. Other options that I thought of would be to release the riser clamp that the cast is tied to on top of the wall so that it could drop an inch....not sure this is a good idea. 2nd option would be to slide the rubber boot on the mission band...

Connecting Cast Iron to PVC w/ Mission Band

Note that the mission band is not connected as it appears in the picture. It is slid all the way up on the cast and is not connected to the PVC below.

Connecting Cast Iron to PVC w/ Mission Band

Hello, me again....so I have replaced my old cast iron soil stack w/ PVC. The cast iron OD was 4 - 1/8" so I took Terry's advice and bought a Copper to Cast Mission Band. The problem that I am having is in order to get the PVC pipe that is inserted in the San-Tee below to fit under the 4" cast...

    Wet Vented Trap Arm Size?

What size trap arm/drain is required for a tub/shower that has a trap arm length of 30"? The trap arm has 1.5 p-trap, runs 30" and dumps into stack. This line does not have its own vent, it is vented by the 4" stack. Reading 908.2 of 2006 UPC states, "Each wet-vented section shall be a...

    Joning CI to ABS...drip...drip...drip:)

Ive read this comment multiple times on this site and you are correct! Replaced my stack and it was 4 1/8"! I picked up the copper to cast as the suggested band was too big. When I asked the inspectors, local plumbers, and supply store the all said 4" cast is the same size...its not!

    Kitchen sink vent and cleanout

Are you saying that the san tee should be 2 x 1.5 x 2 if san tee is used as a cleanout? Meaning the 1.5 points towards ceiling for vent? Does a 2 x 1.5 x 1.5 not work? I thought trap arm was 1.5 for kitchen sink?

    Kitchen sink vent and cleanout

I am installing a kitchen sink under a window. I have roughed in the drain at 14". It is connected with a 1.5" trap arm. The trap is connected to a san tee. The drain is 2" and drops below to the basement w/ a long sweep 90. This horizontal drain runs 19' and turns 90 w/ a long sweep 90 and...

    Vent Pipe???

I tried to upload a pic through my phone, but file size is too large. The washer's flex drain is routed into a 1.5" pvc pipe (to the left of the washer when facing) that is strapped to wall at 42" which dropps vertically along wall and then 90s horizonotal approx. 2' before 90-ing down to a...

    Vent Pipe???

Thanks for the quick comment! My co worker who used to draft mechanical plans was trying to tell me that that it was an essential part of the wet vent system. Anyhow, my plan is to replace the cast iron with pvc and he kept insisting that the pipe parallel to the vent needed to go back in too...

    Vent Pipe???

The black cast iron pipe to the left of the stack....is this a vent? It does not connect to anything other than the stack. It connects at the basement (also same pipe on left but is painted silver.) 53" above basement floor and runs parallel along stack until it rises 39" above finish floor...
