    3" Waste Stack Crooked

Thank you for your help. I have one other question in regard to san-tees on their back. This installation was done back in 2001 when the house was built. If an inspector came out now to inspect plumbing changes would that not pass even though it was signed off in 2001. Is there a grandfather...

    3" Waste Stack Crooked

Wayne, Pic #3 - You're correct, the 3" san-tee on its back is a drain from the 2nd floor master bath. I have attached another pic (pic #5) showing the rest of the pipe. The 2" tee is a drain from the 1st floor half bath. The left section of the 3" pipe is from half bath toilet. Is it even...

    3" Waste Stack Crooked

I'm getting ready to frame basement. The 3" waste stack is crooked. It is 4.5" from wall (farthest point from wall) near concrete floor (see pic#1). Up near the top it leans away from wall and is 5.5" from wall (see pic #2). Is there any way to straighten this without breaking up concrete? I'm...

Flexible Coupling for PVC Waste Stack

Can I use a flexible coupling (rubber with SS strap clamps) on a vertical, 4" PVC waste stack? Does code allow it? Thank you. Gary

    Basement Rough-in Removal

I have a 3" PVC pipe (toilet rough-in-see pic) and a 2" PVC pipe sticking out from unfinished basement concrete floor for bathroom. I do not want to put a bathroom in that location. How do I get rid of those PVC pipes and concrete over? Are there plugs to glue into the pipes to make flush with...

    Drain Arrangement

Thank you Wayne for that sketch. I totally understand that but unfortunately I will not be locating the powder room at that location. On my original picture, how will I need to modify that dry vent in regard to new WC and sink drain. The 4" waste stack enters the concrete and then runs...

    Drain Arrangement

Hate to ask this but could one of you sketch up what you mean. I took a picture of the existing WC rough-in and 2" dry vent. If I put the bathroom at this location, could I connect a sink drain to that sanitary tee in the vertical pipe? Now it becomes a wet vent from the sanitary tee to WC...

    Drain Arrangement

Yes there will be a toilet. The 4” waste stack, which serves a bathroom on the 2nd floor, goes into the slab and runs diagonally to the front wall of the basement where it exits the house to sewer. The concrete will have to be tore up to access that 4” line. This could be done, correct?

    Drain Arrangement

The 2” vent is a dry vent. So the 2”x4” wye fitting is acceptable in this application?

    Drain Arrangement

The photo shows what will be a basement bathroom sink tie-in. The 1.5" horizontal pipe will go to the trap of the sink about 5' away. The 2" vertical pipe goes to vent and as shown ties into a 4" waste stack. Will this arrangement meet code? If not, why not. Thank you. GLG

    Waste Stacks and Vents

So I found some old pictures of the house I took when it was being built in 1990. I specifically took pictures of all the drain and vent pipes. The picture of the bathroom in question shows a 2" vent pipe running up to the attic. So I made a trip into the attic and found the 2" PVC buried in...

    Waste Stacks and Vents

Where would the AAV be located? Again, in the attic, above the bathroom, there are no PVC pipes. Thank you.

    Waste Stacks and Vents

I have a 3" waste stack that serves a second floor bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. It appears that there is not a vent at this end of the house. This stack is one of 3, 3" waste stacks. The stack in the center of the house goes to the roof and is a combo vent and waste drain for another...

Shut-off Valves to 2nd Floor Bathrooms

I am getting ready to finish my basement. We have a 2 story house with full basement so there are 3 levels. There are 3 bathrooms on the second floor. Each bathroom has hot and cold water shutoff valves located in the basement ceiling. Once the basement is finished, 4 of these valves will be...
