I have an AAV in my wall. I have purchased a small vented access panel to remedy the enclosure issue. I'm wondering if it just doesn't make more sense to move the AAV to be under the bathroom sink? The unit works for both my sink and toilet. Is their a height issue?

The AAV is about 4 or 5 feet from the floor now. Is a vented access panel enough or does it need to be an access panel with a wall box?

I guess the reason it isn't higher is due to stud running across the wall (which I could remove).

You are much better off to have it above the flood level of the fixture.
Below the counter, and if there is a backup, you can wind up with water in the cabinet.
