Contacted Zurn with question on relief valve model P1000AXL-150C which Navien directly calls out in manual as approved pressure relief valve and Zurn informed me that this model is not approved for tankless water heaters as valve relieves vertically and not horizontally. They even went further and said they do not make a relief valve approved for tankless water heater applications as shown in Navien manual and I should contact a different manufacturer as they could no longer help me.

Any 150psi relief with the correct BTU/HR rating will work. If Zurn doesn't want the sales then I would buy a different one, but never had an issue with them on tankless. Not to mention there's lots of tank that have the pop off on the side and not the top.
