Where can I get an old Diversion Stem .

I’m not a plumber. Just a diy type of guy. My home was build in the fifties. Was changing the stems for the shower and I’m guessing the conduit part where the diverter stem must be different but I can’t get the new style of diversion stems to screw onto the conduit inside the wall. I’m attaching a picture. The threading on my stem goes all the way to the end of the stem. The new styles have threading that starts a half inch into the stem.

Anyone know where I can buy one of these old style stems?

This is American Standard 9803-0200. A good plumbing parts supply should have it or can get it.
