I install a new Birm iron filter with AIO3 injection. The pH has gone from 7.6 to 9.0 and the hardness has gone from 8 grains to 1, neither of which should happen with Birm. Any thoughts of what was accidently put in the tank instead of Birm

Well, 10 days and 3 more backwashes later the pH and hardness seems to be coming back to normal. I guess it was the Birm finds

It is called BIRM (best iron removal media)....

I don't know how the softness went down. Is the iron down? You may be able to determine that by taste.

Thanks for pointing out the typo. Yes, the iron tested at 0 ppm. Since the pH and hardness have returned to normal over te last 3 weeks I can only assume there were some Birm "fines" that got cleaned out??

The fines thing may be a thing... I think you are declaring success.
