Anybody know what this is? Its been in the bathroom wall since the 1950's.

If I had to guess, the slot might be to discard razor blades. Not sure where they would go though. Maybe they just drop in the wall cavity.

My 1950 cottage had a medicine cabinet with such a slot and no way to empty it without removing the cabinet. The slot had a label indicating its purpose.

Here is the aftermath of opening up a wall underneath one of those medicine cabinets when your partner doesn't heed your warning to stop hammering on the wall. The Gillette in the package was brand new, I still have that one.
