We have a well in the middle of the drive way. We currently have a stone base and the weeds are becoming unmanageable. Don't want to put down Roundup, Weed Killer because of the well. We are getting older and want to pave the driveway. How close to the well can we pave? In other words, how large of a perimeter should we leave around the pipe?

How deep is the well? Is there a submersible pump or a above ground jet pump in the basement?

To kill weeds and most grasses you can pour table salt on the weeded area and lightly water. Roundup and other herbicide chemicals are absorbed by the leafy part of the plant, not the root system. Only lightly wetting the plant is needed. After a few hours the chemical is absorbed by the weeds and not washed into the ground.

Your state probably has some regulations as to how high the casing must be above grade, type of concrete seal around the casing, etc. I would check with the state drillers board.
