Hello all,

Looking for some help with my water softener installation.

I live in an area where the frost line is 18” and the ground freezes in the winter.

I am on a well water supply and have a sand mound septic unit.

The septic company says not to drain the regeneration water into the septic system leaving my only choice to drain the water outdoors.

Being that I live in an area that freezes, how would you recommend setting up the drain line? Should I run it under the foundation of my house? How deep should I run a drain pipe, and how far away from the house should do I need to be before I start using some sort of French drain?

Will just draining the water below ground be sufficient or do I need to install a dry well?

I want to do this right the first time and not have any issues come next winter.

Helpful advice appreciated.

If you can, have the drain line empty with a simple vacuum break, run the drain high/vacuum break in a controlled area, empty low...
