I've had failures with plumbers putty and silicone caulk in a tub drain in my home. IT seems to be volunerable to movement an expansion and contraction. Has anyone tried a urethane caulk or one like Dyneflex 230, which I think is a latex hybrid. I have read they use urethane caulks for RV drains, since it puts up with more flex and movement.

gasket on bottom should keep it from leaking , putty basicaly keeps the water from slipping past when stoppers down to keep tub from losing water down drain. thats when everything is perfect so the putty does help . I never use caulk so thats just my experiance. I guess trying a 3rd product but I suspect something with the tub or waste and overflow, none of this stuff is made perfect and often installed even worse.

Check this out. Chromed zink. This time I got stainless steel. I'll replace my other zink one soon.
