When setting a tub do you install the drain and overflow assembly on the tub first and then try to connect it to the trap or do you install the drain and overflow assembly and trap together and set the tub on top of it.............or does it matter.
Just seems like fitting that last piece of pipe between the drain and overflow assembly and the trap might be difficult. Also how do you check the drain for leaks before setting the tub......just pour water down the trap?

1. we never fit blind
2. access from behind or below is perferred
3 Always attach w&o to tub first. We use no hub couplings for final connections.
Hiring a pro is a preferred solution.

Here is how I do it.
First off is the hard way Im not going to tell you how waste of time.
Here is this senario. ok youve got it fit up we need to determine I set my trap exactly as needed center from side wall and off the tub valve wall correct amount around 1 1/2 but verify I dont glue any of the pieces together except the p trap.. Ok now step 2 throw the tub in get it set all the details step 3 put putty and snug the spud on the shoe , now make the piece coming off the spud the lenght needed for the san tee to be in correct lengt to glue on the tee and p trap plus get your verticle piece ready to glue in the trap , now glue these 3 in the santee the verticle and the piece to the shoe . now place overflow piece and get measurement for the the piece cut piece glue all ther rest in put cover tighten and finish tightening you are done!
On a all glue installation I dont use a band but if its easier no harm

Using a no hub between the tub overflow / drain and the p trap would definitely make things easier.......is that what you are saying?
