Over tightening the nylon nut will crack. It appears to be for a toilet, once tighten buy hand, bottoms out, not more than a 1/4 turn with a pair of pliers.

Is this just to inform the insurance company? Because good luck getting any damages from the manufacturer. It would be awesome if someone tried that and succeeded, but if anything they get a small portion of what they should from any manufacturer.

Probably China's finest. I'd hit the big box stores, hardware and plumbing supply. Probably. if you read the manufacturer warranty their just going to cover the replacement part for any defects without taking them.to court.
