I have a condo that's getting water in the below ground bedroom it's not a basement it's halfway below ground I got water getting into that outside there's a deck I'm wondering if I could dig under that deck and just dig a big hole and put a sump pump in there before it gets to the foundation if that would work or if that just blowing smoke

That should work great.

If it is ground water, you would want to make an oversized hole. Position a plastic sump liner. Fill the sump liner with water to weight it down, to prevent floating, if there is water in the pit. Put pea gravel or other fine gravel in the pit outside of the liner.

Drill holes, maybe 3/16 inch diameter, in the side of the sump liner to admit ground water. I would start with holes higher, and only go low if the higher holes were not sufficient.

Your sump should go below floor level.
