Hi all,

I recently had a leak in a shower which I believe to be from missing grout (and apparently a missing liner in the shower pan.

With no membrane present, you get an idea of the quality of install.

While hunting for the leak, I exposed the drain from below and found this:

What may not be clear in the photo is the drain pitches away from the trap as you’d expect; however, at the first 90 from the trap, it pitches up to tie into the vent which is that sanitee on its back near the metal strapping. It then pitches down in the direction of the trap to tie into the main.

The drain has been fine for the 15 years since it was installed, I just perceive that the pitch up toward the vent is wrong and don’t like to bury problems once exposed.

If I’m correct, what approach should I take to remedy? Should I turn the trap and do a heal to tie into the vent? Is that even permissible?

Thanks for any advice!

The street 90, because it is not a sweep fitting (long sweep is required). Rebuild to provide slope and sweep. It also should be supported and strapped fully

Yikes, that is a tight scenario. How open are the walls above where the vent goes through the floor?
