Should I put screws in acrylic shower base to make more sturdy?

I put in a dreamline shower base using mortar only. the manufacturer says to use mortar only and not to screw the flange to the studs. Will the mortar alone make the base solid or should I go ahead and drill the screws in for more support? also I have a cap under the base. Would you use shims to fill the gap?

The base should not move when your done. If it does it needs either mortar injected back into it or maybe screwed. Over time a screw used to support plastic will loosen.

mortar alone "should "make it solid . I drill the flange and put screws unessesary acorrding to manufacture ok . I used to just drive a nail on the top edge of flange kind of wedging it to keep it from rising
