Bathroom sink suddenly clogged. Hasn't happen in many years. Nothing down the pipe but soap and toothpaste. I went in with a 1/4" drain snake but no matter how much I try I can only get down about 15" (measuring from the wall). The pipe is 2" iron that might be as old as seventy-five. Could it have rusted closed? Seems unlikely. Thank you all and thanks above all to Terry.

a lot of times its packed pretty heavy right at the wall and that makes it harder to make the turn down. maybe pull the trap off and clean out as much gunk you can messy job be prepared plus old traps can disitegrate so allow time
