Remove old shower faucet

My shower tub is leaking, so I tried to get to the cartridge, but am stuck on how to remove the cover/housing at the cartridge.
I believe it is Kohler. The photos show the center, and 2 of the cover. How do I remove the cover? It won't budge.

Not Kohler. They don't make plastic splines, nor do they use a three screw cartridge. Invariably, the sleeve went on either push-on or threaded. Check Barry Walter Co. for cartridge types that match...maybe heat to help at this point. Though, not likely that you'll find parts anyway.

Ive never put American standard in except on commercial jobs where they spec out A.S. not 1 in a 100 houses has that around here. not saying anything wrong with American Standard
