Hi all,
I am nearly done a hall bath refresh and have a 1980 vintage American Standard steel tub that currently has no drain stopper.
In fact, it hasn’t had a stopper as long as I’ve owned the house but it’s never been an issue for showers. Now that kid#2 wants to claim that bathroom as her own and wants to be able to take a bath.
From reading here I think there used to be a rocker arm that was actuated by the weight (see pic) attached to the push/pull mechanism that was routed through the overflow.
what I can’t figure out is if any American standard rocker arm will fit or if I need a specific version. It looks like a 1560 tub drain but mine isn’t a trip lever. I don’t even know what to ask for at the supply house.
Some internet sources have recommended replacing that drain stopper assembly with a new one but as I mentioned, that one has been there for 40 years and I’d rather not disturb it.
