During the very cold end of December this year, the Heatmaker 2 tank finally started to leak. It flooded
the ground floor and thru a friend we had installed a Navien 210E within about a week.

Two plumbers working 17 hrs due to the piping layout refit, flipped the dip switch from natural gas to propane,
but forgot the plate change.

Ran 8 weeks on natural gas, and we only found out there was a problem due to 171 gallons of propane used
in February. The house was unoccupied due to the flood and the owner was in the hospital, he is 91.

The stat was at 60 and the set temperature around 170. The Navien actually matched the Heatmaker in
gross and net btu. Also hot water.

Navien says the the heat exchanger could have micro cracks due to excessive pressure due additional fuel.

The installer can out and fixed the plate.

Does the boiler have to be replaced?

Thanks

This is between you, Navien, and the installer. Navien has a better handle on what can damage the thing than anybody else, and it's up to the installer to ensure that the work was done per the book to cover any warranty issues. If Navien warranty the unit at the repair levels you're good to go. If not...

It could work as-is for another 20 days or another 20 years, but I doubt the warranty on the heat exchanger is any good unless it's been swapped out.
