Like the title says. I have an alcove style setup. New bathtub. One side of wall already in place. How can I put mortar on floor and raise the bathtub up high enough so I can set the tub on top of the mortar? With one wall already in place there is no way for someone to lift one side of the tub up and onto the mortar bed. The tub has to be slid into position. If I slide it after putting down mortar then the mortar will just be pushed to the back of the wall no? It has a chipboard base attached to the tub. Puzzled.

You do the best you can with an alcove. I put piles of mortar down that squish down and away. A full bed has never worked for me. I tend to drop the tub down at the last onto the piles. If you hold the apron up, perhaps sliding it back on the backing boards will work for that. And then drop the apron at the last.
