If you're doing a reno or building a house, you have to go look at their current work. Word of mouth literally means nothing.

This may seem a little simplistic, but the first thing I look at is solder joints. This is the most basic of skills that a plumber must master. You don't know how many times I've seen solder joints that were dripping, messy, etc. The plumber always comes back with "oh, it doesn't matter, nobody sees it, and the joint is solid." IT MATTERS!

My thought is, if the plumber doesn't care enough to wipe and clean his solder joints, which literally takes seconds, there's no way he's going to care about doing the tough stuff 100%.

If they pass the solder test, then I'll look at how he's run the lines. Many plumbers will criss cross hot and cold willy nilly. ABS joints. again, is there more glue dripping out than in the joints?

And the piece de resistance. The board.
