Greetings,

I have a Fleck 5600 mechanical metered softener in a rental that was leaking constantly from under the plate that holds the piston and brine valve. I bought a piston seal and new brine valve kit and replaced them, I took the old O-ring out from the brine valve hole and put a new O-ring on the new brine valve and installed it.

Everything was good until I move the dial to backwash then it leaks again from under the plate..but does not do this during any other cycle. Any ideas what could be causing this leak? I'm tempted just to buy a new 5600 and be done with it.

Thanks for reading...

In the 5600 service manual, page 14 shows item 15 part 19228 ..............Adapter Coupling

It has 4 o-rings. I would replace the o-rings, lubricating with silicone grease.
