I would like to help my daughter install a new Pfister single handle faucet and push & seal drain but there is a problem, the existing metal pop up drain needs to be removed first but there is no clearance below the p-trap to lower it, it is resting on the sink cabinet. Should I cut out a section of drain pipe in order to lift it out of the p-trap? Sorry I don't have a picture since the sink is at my daughter's rental condo.
