I recently had my water softener serviced because the Fleck 7000 control unit wasn't keeping track of the gallons of water that were being passed (the display was stuck at 3200 or so). The service technician found that the brine tank was nearly overflowing with water, and determined that the Brine Valve Assembly on the Fleck 7000 needed to be replaced. (And he replaced it.) The system had been filling the brine tank with water, but not sucking it back out into the softener.
A couple of months have gone by and I noticed that the water isn't getting softened anymore. The Fleck 7000 is tracking the number of gallons used, so the problem isn't the same. I can also force a regeneration, but it didn't seem to soften the water.
I forced a regeneration and watched what happened. It looks like the cam doesn't depress the brine valve sufficiently to send water to the brine tank. I pushed the brine valve a bit further by inserting a screwdriver between the cam and the valve, and it began to fill the brine tank. It looks like the cam isn't depressing the valve far enough to open it.
Is there any sort of adjustment that I can make to fix the problem? Is there any sort of adjustment that needs to be made when installing/replacing a brine valve? I'd like to find an easy solution to the problem, but I can't figure one out.
Any help would be appreciated!
