I’m starting to look at options for a master bathroom remodel on the 2nd story with a drywall finished ceiling underneath. Do you see many bathrooms with an elevated shower like the one pictured or are there obvious concerns? I like the idea of easy access to the drain without pulling drywall on the lower level. I have cathedral ceilings in this bathroom so height isn’t a concern.

If you've got the room, nothing 'wrong' with it. Note, though, that walking out of a shower down tiled steps can be a little hazardous...water and many tile in bare, wet feet can be slippery.
