Running a dehumidifier in our basement. Currently its in a small room off the main, cause there is a floor drain. Would like to move the dehumidifier into the main room, but there is no drain. There is a PVC clean out in the floor, as the drain heads out of the house. Could I open that up, screw an adapter into it, then put in a clean out, and a side pipe with a trap to drain the dehumidifier into. Then either put an AAV or possibly run across the ceiling to a roof vent?

Is this possible, to code, do the parts exist? The adapter to the drain clean out is the only part I am not sure off. Have not shopped or even measured the clean out size.

Opening a cleanout in the basement floor has the potential to spew things should there be a clog after it or a monumental storm overwhelms the sewer system. Probably won't happen, but you never know.

If you do do this, you will want a vent and a p-trap. You can probably get by with an AAV.

At my mother's house, we ran a hose from the dehumidifier to a sump with a sump pump, but you may not have one of those.

There's also the possibility of using a condensate pump, and pump it to maybe the washing machine stand pipe or a sink.

If the doors are open, the humidity will permeate most of the basement, and it won't make that much difference where it is.
